I am a certified doula/monitrice (BOCES), a certified labor assistant (ALACE), and a Supervised Midwife. I serve at births within a 2-hour radius of my home in Vancleave, MS. I have been apprenticing and studying to serve as a midwife with Renata Hillman, TM since 1995. I am a student of AAMI (Ancient Arts Midwifery Institute). I am the mother of 7 children: 4 born at home. I have attended births in hospitals as a monitrice/doula and at homes as a midwifes assistant/apprentice. Birth is an important part of a womans life and I believe that women should be given choices about how, where and with whom they birth. My role as a labor assistant is not meant to take the place of the husbands role. I am there to enhance his role and to help protect the womens right to give birth in dignity.
