NW Community Midwives view pregnancy and birth as a sacred passage - a fundamentally healthy process - not an institution-centered medical event. As experts in normal childbirth at home, we help women reclaim trust in their bodys ability to safely and dependably give birth. We believe that, as midwives, our job is to support and assist the birthing parents in their journey through pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum. With our clinical skills, intellect, and intuition we inform them if anything falls outside the range of normal and safe. As holistic practitioners, we emphasize natural preventative techniques utilizing nutrition, herbs, homeopathy and allopathic medicine. At the same time, we watch for and identify potential or actual complications, and if necessary, are skilled in providing emergency treatment until medical assistance can be obtained.
