BOSTON, MA, Feb 2, 2012 - Governor Deval Patrick signed a bill that expands the privileges and responsibilities of nurse-midwives. The governor has signed legislation that authorizes nurse-midwives to write drug prescriptions and order tests or therapeutics.

Published: September 5, 2011 in the New York Times By NICHOLAS BAKALAR According to a new analysis, the United States now ranks 41st in the world in terms of neonatal mortality, the death rate of infants less than one month old. The rate is higher in the United States than in, among others, Cuba, Slovakia, Croatia and all of Western Europe and Scandinavia.
